VSC Community Agreement

The VSC is a community of members who are committed to learning, friendship, and social interaction. To ensure that every member has a positive experience, VSC members have assembled the following guidelines for all members to follow in classes and events hosted on the VSC.

  1. Allow for everyone to contribute (more talkative people: show a little restraint, quieter people: your contributions are very welcome).

  2. Only one person speaks at a time. Put up your hand if you want to speak and wait for your turn (three before me).

  3. Everyone has different opinions. Respect each others' opinions even / especially if you don't agree with them.

  4. Participate! Keep your camera on!

  5. Confidentiality - be respectful of what members share. Some things shouldn't be repeated outside of this class/event without permission.

  6. Be conscious of time - help stick to it, or negotiate another opportunity to finish the conversation.

  7. Minimize noise - Turn mobile phone ringers off and/or click on β€œMute” sound if you experience disruptions (i.e. TV, a phone call, or talking to other people in your home).

  8. Take private conversations to CHAT. Schedule private video sessions when you want to connect outside formal programs and classes.

  9. Take technical questions (i.e. mute sound/video) to tech support and other training resources via the HELP link

  10. How to limit one person from talking too long?  politely remind them of the community agreement; Big β€œT” or β€œZ”- time out sign.

  11. Be mindful of what’s showing on the camera (i.e. not eating in front of camera); but please respect people who can’t move around easily.

  12. VSC is committed to an inclusiverespectful, and welcoming space for all people. We do NOT tolerate discriminatory or abusive behavior regarding race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexuality, age, social class, ability, or physical appearance. If someone specifies that they prefer particular pronouns (often listed next to their name in the Zoom window), please respect their preferences.

  13. There is no personal recording (either audio or video) of events, classes, or other platform programs using any devices (including that device you are accessing the platform from). Only facilitators are authorized to record their own classes for inclusion in the Class Library.

  14. Have FUN! Enjoy yourself! Have a good attitude.
